Coaching
John is a perceptive coach, who helps business people to see their challenges from different perspectives, unlocking new avenues.

John practices radical candour – the ability to provide clear, direct insights that others might hesitate to voice. He specialises in identifying and addressing the “elephant in the room” in a way that engages positive change. He turns potential conflicts into opportunities for collaboration.
That’s why John chose to call his consultancy “Daft Laddie”: a mix of playful curiosity, sharp insight and unconventional thinking.
Change delivery
John’s background was originally in technology roles as a software developer and technical architect, before moving into programme delivery. He cut his teeth at GE Capital where he became a Six Sigma black belt.
“I was very fortunate to go beyond the standard training with early exposure to change management and design thinking.”
He quickly realised that change without acceptance was of limited value.
John moved into large-scale programme delivery in financial services, often being parachuted into troubled programmes that needed to be put into turnaround. He honed his ability to diagnose root causes and convince executive teams to make painful but necessary changes.
“As I progressed in my career, I became less interested in the nuts and bolts and more interested in how teams come together, how they make decisions, and why they get stuck”.
